Rachel Newbrough began her dance training at Stage I Dance Academy where she studied for 14 years. She continued her dance training by attending Indiana University. Rachel graduated from IU with a B.S. in Kinesiology-Dance and a minor in Exercise Science. During her four years in the IU Contemporary Dance Program Rachel had the opportunity to perform works by Martha Graham, Bella Lewitzky, Larry Keigwin and Nicole Wolcott, as well as Laurie Eisenhower. She has attended the Lar Lubovitch Summer Intensive and the David Dorfman Dance Summer Intensive and has taken classes from David Hochoy, David Parsons, Laura Poole, Connie Dinapoli, Sandra Kaufman, Liz Koeppen, Ben Munisteri and Nicole Wolcott.
Rachel dances professionally for Elizabeth Shea Dance. She has had the opportunity to travel to Israel, NYC, as well as throughout the country to perform and assist in setting works on dancers.
Rachel began her teaching career at the age of 17 at Stage I. Since then she has had the opportunity to teach for the IU-Pre College Program and the Nashville Dance Studio. She currently works as an Adjunct Instructor at Indiana University teaching Modern Dance. Rachel has attended and participated in many MusicWorks Teaching workshops in order to further her teaching education. Rachel enjoys working with children of all ages and strives to promote a positive atmosphere for growth and experimentation, while exhibiting good life skills such as hard work, dedication, and teamwork.
In addition to teaching dance, Rachel also teaches Pilates and is a certified ZUMBA® instructor.
